If you’re keen to explore the brilliant mountains in very limited time, then Ghorepani Poonhill trek is one of the great decisions, besides the epic views and personal triumphs, it is the chance to experience the culture and the way of life which make trekking more exciting. Only a few people living in the small town dotting the mountainside, and much of the country’s religious and culture originated from their valleys and peak.
This short trek offers the best experience trekking through quaint villages, lush forest and over rivers, cliff, stone stairs before gradually ending up at the highest point 3210m, face amongst the tallest mountains in the world.
Ghorepani Poonhill trek is just about 4 or 5 days, which starts after a 1-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the gateway to the Annapurna Base camp, Dhampus, Australian Camp & Ghandruk.
There is an alternative route to start the Ghorepani Poonhill trek, one of the popular starting point is Nayapul along Tikhedhunga- Ghorepani- Tadapani- Nayapul.
Best season to do Ghorepani Poonhill Trek
The best season to do Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is Autumn (September, October, November) and Spring (March, April, May)
It is also possible to trek in the winter season because it is low altitude trek, but be careful that the cold of winter will offer a challenging adventure. The temperature will drop below -15 degrees, so prepare yourself with an extra warm layer.

Summer/Monsoon (June, July, and August) is not the perfect time for the enthusiast trekker. This is the season of frequent downpours; it will be challenging while climbing the slippery stone trail and muddy trail along with leeches.

Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara Flight and trek to Tikhedhunga (6-7 hours/1570m)
Day 2: Trek to Ghorepani (5-6 hours/2850m)
Day 3: Trek to Tadapani via Poonhill (4-5 hours/2700m)
Day 4: Trek to Ghandruk and drive to Pokhara (3 hours & 2 hour)
Day 5: Fly or Drive to Kathmandu
Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara Flight, Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (6-7 hours/1570m)
Today early morning we will leave Kathmandu valley after short flight to Pokhara then drive to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. We will follow the ascending trail through Terrence farm, going to the main trail of Birethanti, pass through the small waterfall and continue towards Sudame, where we will stop for lunch.
After lunch we will continue steady climb along the side of valley towards Tikhedhunga.
Overnight at Tikhedhnga
Day 2: Trek to Ghorepani (5-6 hours/2850m)
We will start our trek after early morning breakfast, today we will climb to Ulleri, the challenging part of trail. We will begin our trek by climbing the steep stone stairs of 3767 steps up the ridgeline, gradually we will trek through cultivated fields. After completion this section, we will trek through the beautiful scenic area of colorful rhododendron and old oak forest.
We will continue our pace towards Nangethanti, and stop for lunch. Nangethanti means the rest house in Nepali word. We will continue our walk after lunch towards Ghorepani, beautiful village surrounded by stunning scenery that’s popular with trekkers.

Day 3: Trek to Tadapani via Poonhill (4-5 hours/2700m)
We will wake up early morning and start our pre-dawn climb of 1 hour to Poonhill. This is the best place to enjoy the stunning views of sunrise, the views of golden light on the nearby snow-covered peaks like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, fishtail (Machhapuchare), and Himchuli, and sunrise over the white mountain is one f the healing view and highlights of the Poonhill trek.
We will then backtrack to Ghorepani for a breakfast before continuing a full day of trekking towards the beautiful small village of Tadapani.

Day 4: Trek to Ghandruk and drive to Pokhara (3 hours & 3 hours)
We will continue our descending trek to Ghandruk, after Breakfast. The trail is steeply descending to Bhaisi Kharka through amazing green hill side landscape, and Terrence fields. Our trek will end at Ghandruk then drive to Pokhara. We will be rewarded by the stunning views of the mountains including Dhaulagiri, Manasalu, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna range and others.
After arrival in Pokhara, enjoy the moment and relax at Lakeside.

Day 5: Fly or Drive to Kathmandu
We will take a flight or drive to Kathmandu after exploring the Pokhara.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, enjoy your rest of the time on your own.
