Tour overview

Nar Phu trek is the combination of two valleys Nar and Phu, along with a high peak and Kang La pass, 5315m. One of the best treks to explore the glacier, remote village of Annapurna region, narrow canyons, beautiful forests, unique rock formation, Gompas, unique Buddhist arts, and residents of Tibetan culture. Few trekkers make their way to Nar Phu valley, few trekkers explore these virtually unspoiled villages.

Trek start from Besisahar, the gateway to the classic Annapurna Circuit Trek, the trek quickly separates from the trail with extra foot- traffic and into the remote residents of Nar and Phu valleys. In between trek, we will cross through the colorful Tibetan Chortens, Suspension bridge over different streams, forest trail on Tibetan Plateau and Mani Stones into deep canyons and gorge, we will get a chance to introduce to the local peoples in Phu village and spend a night in the Nar Phedi monastery, one of the best ways to experience the life of remote Himalayan of Nepal. 

The last couple of days of the trek lead us over the adventurous Kang La Pass rejoicing the stunning views of Annapurna Massif and then descend again to Ngawal Manang village 3660m, the famous stop on the Annapurna Circuit Trek route. 

Nar Phu valley is resident by the ethnic Lama, Gurung, and Ghale community, people are very nice and friendly and welcome guests as the god. In between trekking, we will get the chance to explore the culture, nature, and unique religious practice of Buddhism in Tashi Lhakhang Monastery.

Best season to travel

Nar Phu trek can be done throughout the year, Spring (September to November) and Autumn (March to May) are the best season in Nepal, even possible in the Monsoon/summer (June to August). The trek is still doable in monsoon, although the road access in the mountains to and from Besisahar could be disturbed by frequent rainfall and landslide.

Day 1: Drive to Besishahar and Drive to Saynge (1200m,7-8 Hours)

We will start the trek early, as the trek distance is long, the town nearby to Annapurna circuit trail is relatively well developed, we will cross the river and check-in to the Nar Phu valley.
We will trek through the beautiful woods, past small cave shelters, and pilgrims resting places. Going on the trail it emerges from the narrow canyon, passes under a wide waterfall from where the views will be clear and wider. The last stretch into Meta involves an ascending walk and offers stunning views of giant snowy peaks.

Day 5: Trek to Phu (4080m)

We will trek to Meta by exploring the unique colorful Tibetan Buddhist Chortens, we will enjoy the trek along the ridge with a good view of the magnificent Nar Phedi Monastery, we will trek for an hour to reach Phu, where we can see that the monuments guard the uphills trail.
We can explore our first view of the three villages in the area as well as the old Dzong, a fortress in Tibetan style, and the other two crumbling forts, at the top of the flatland earlier the village.

Day 6: Exploring Phu

Today is an acclimatization day due to the high altitude, we will explore the small village as well as hike up to Himlung Base camp. Sending time in the beautiful Phu village and explore the local people's lifestyle is the best part of exploration day.

Day 7: Trek to Nar Phedi (3490m)

Today we will trek back to Meta but stop at the Nar Phedi monastery, where we will stay overnight.
The room will be neat and clean, we can join Puja at 5 pm, as per your desire you can contribute some donation for the goodwill of the monastery.

Day 8: Trek to Nar village (4110m)

Today we will trek through the winding ascending path towards Nar and pass a line of beautifully painted bamboo toped chortens on the way. We will reach the village at lunchtime. Nar is more social and beautiful than Phu village, we can spend our spare time exploring the surrounding of the village.

Day 9: Trek to Ngawal via the Kang La Pass (5240m)

Today we will trek a long distance, we will give you a wakeup call early morning, start our trek before sunrise to pass the Kang La Pass, trek is long but not so difficult, we can enjoy the mesmerizing views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak from the top of the pass. we will stop for lunch on a plateau facing the peak, then continue pace towards Ngawal.
Ngawal, the village above the upper Pisang route of the famous Annapurna Circuit trail, is gradually different from the ancient villages of Nar Phu.

Day 10: Trek to Chame (2700m,7 hours)

Today the scenery will be green and beautiful as we descend lower than 2000m from the pass. it takes few hours to reach Pisang, the trail is easy and wide and passes a beautiful Lake just near to Pisang. Stop for tea in the village, then take a drive to Besisahar.

It takes 5 hours to get back to Kathmandu, after arrival in Kathmandu enjoy your last moment by exploring the surrounding.
